At the beginning of the 80s the international and local
Apuan stone industry entered a decade of significant growth and expansion
and trade took off on an international scale on all levels of production,
processing and trade.
Over the years, Giorgio Conti organised R.E.D. GRANITI into a trading
company servicing operators in the industry both in Italy and abroad.
The key strategy involved creating his business on an international level
thanks to the strategic control of the raw material. This he initially
traded according to exclusive contracts and subsequently he acquired
quarries throughout the world which the company still works directly.
R.E.D. GRANITI currently produces in its own quarries approximately 80%
of all material sold.
This strategy turned out to be a winner in the difficult 90s too when
the company’s sales doubled in just eight years. This increase
was much higher than the rest of the market.
