On 17 January 2002 Giorgio Conti passed away. Thanks to the resolve of his daughters Franca and Daniela, a year since the death of one of the most beloved men in Carrara and one of the most prominent professionals in the world stone industry, the Giorgio Conti Foundation has been established. The Foundation aims to continue in the spirit of Giorgio Conti who was well-known for his generosity, profound sense of humanity and clear-sighted business choices. Hence, in his memory both as a father and a man, the objectives of the Giorgio Conti Foundation shall comprise social solidarity and the protection and promotion of human rights and the arts. One of the first actions of the Foundation, upon the express wish of Giorgio Conti: the building of an old people’s rest home.
